Support Reforestation and Biodiversity in the PhilippinesTokyo, Nov 2

Japan Support for the Philippine Environment and Biodiversity. This is a call going out to anyone interested to help to form a new environmental organization called MidoriPhil. The purpose of MidoriPhil (“Green Philippines”), whose members would be based in Japan, is to develop ways to support existing environmental projects and initiatives in the Philippines. An example of a project now underway that MidoriPhil might support is reforestation. On November 20, 2009, there will be “The Million Hectare Walk” in Manila to raise funds for reforestation in the Philippines. Although it is probably too late for many of us to support this walk this year, one thing that MidoriPhil might do is prepare for a parallel fund-raising walk in Tokyo next year, and to support other worthwhile projects and activities like this one. Two key Philippine organizations to learn about are The Haribon Foundation and The Philippine Eagle Foundation. Google them or look them up on Wikipedia and follow related links; then, if still interested, please ask for more information from Tokyo-based "Phil" at: midoriphil@gmail.com
